This is a brief document detailing the proposed hardware components of a functional portable sound recording system. The system described herein largely resolves the challenges posed by previous generations of custom-built machines while maintaining a lower total cost. We propose to assemble an operational system with an expected 4-day battery life and (without modification) 4.5-day data storage capacity. The baseline price, with all components included, is approximately one- to two-thousand dollars below the current prototype system.
